At the core of ionStar’s mission is the belief that people make a company successful.
Understanding the difference between meaningful work and the superfluous is central to our philosophy.
Our passion is discovering and scaling new ways to achieve productivity, and in so doing empowering talented compliance professionals to realise a better work-life balance, reentering the market and remaining professionally engaged to assist our clients.
By creating a culture of mutual respect and efficiency, we’re able to attract a diverse range of accomplished compliance professionals, whose unique and valuable experience is harnessed to overcome our clients’ regulatory challenges.
Liz founded ionStar after a successful career in compliance, working with some of London’s leading firms in Canary Wharf, Mayfair, and the City.
After leaving the corporate world to raise her two children, Liz was looking to re-engage with the business community. By launching ionStar she created a company that recognises home life to be as important as work life, a culture that continues to inspire a wealth of talented compliance professionals to join the ionStar team.
Liz splits her time between work, family life, and her hobbies. As MD of ionStar, Liz’s day to day actions touch every part of the business, from leading business development initiatives, building strategic partnerships, to public relations, project management, overseeing quality control and, importantly, introducing new professionals to this way of working.
Liz is passionate about supporting the ionStar network, developing people both professionally and personally, and helping them to achieve their desired work/life balance.
Liz was shortlisted for the Thomson Reuters Compliance Innovator of the Year 2015 award and for the Innovator of the Year award in the 2015 Women in Compliance Awards. Highly commended in the Best Business for Innovation category at the Richmond Business Awards 2015.
Tim brings 13 years of commercial financial services experience to the team, having served as managing director of a FTSE 250 company, responsible for £200M in revenue. He has first-hand experience of the challenges facing leaders in the financial sector who want to build sustainable, high growth businesses whilst fulfilling their regulatory obligations.
After earning a distinction in his executive MBA at the London Business School, Tim decided against the conventional route of taking another all-consuming senior appointment. Instead, choosing to retake control of his life and get the right work/life fit, he joined his wife Liz in growing ionStar together.
Tim is head of business strategy and client delivery, focusing on ensuring clients receive the most value possible from ionStar on each project. Additionally, Tim leads sales, marketing and branding.
Tim was recognised in the 2014 Timewise Power Part Time list which showcases the inspiring stories of 50 men and women who exceed profit targets and drive innovation– all whilst working a contract that strikes a healthy balance with the rest of their lives.
